BREAST CANCER CONFIDENCE PROJECT
Founding Story
The Breast Cancer Confidence Project was founded in 2020 by Michaela Raes, who was diagnosed with breast cancer at just 28 years old. Facing difficult treatment decisions and the physical changes that followed, she struggled with self-image—until a boudoir photoshoot with photographer Jolana Hollister helped her rediscover confidence in her body. Inspired by this experience, the two launched the Breast Cancer Confidence Project to provide other women facing breast cancer with the same opportunity to reclaim their self-esteem.
Since its founding, the organization has empowered survivors through intimate and supportive boudoir and portrait sessions, helping them redefine beauty, embrace resilience, and find confidence in their changing bodies. With a growing community of Empowerment Ambassadors, the project continues to inspire women locally and beyond, ensuring that no one faces breast cancer without the support and encouragement to see themselves as strong, beautiful, and whole.
